Kitson for England soon?

Posted on: Thu 31 Jan 2008

Dave Kitson and Nicky Shorey await news of Fabio Capello's provisional England squad. It was due to be announced at 3:30pm but there has been a delay at the FA.

Kitson has been strongly linked with his first international call-up, and the official word will be given this afternoon.

Dave missed last night's game at Chelsea after suffering from a bout of flu.

Capello will then whittle down that squad to a smaller party which will be announced at 7pm on Saturday evening.

Capello saw Dave in action during our 2-0 loss to Manchester United. The new England boss was also at Madejski Stadium for the FA Cup replay with Spurs, but Dave did not play in that game.

Shorey will also hope to be included after being in the squad for the last seven fixtures under previous boss Steve McClaren.

Meanwhile, Andre Bikey's Cameroon progressed to the quarter finals of the African Cup Of Nations with a 3-0 win over Sudan last night.

Ibrahima Sonko's Senegal take on South Africa this evening, and even if they win they only have a very slim chance of progressing.
