Murty praises sensational fans
Club Captain Graeme Murty has heaped praise on the Reading supporters for their continued backing during what was a very difficult season for all concerned.
With sell-outs at the vast majority of our home matches and superb backing on our travels, the players could not have asked for anything more from our fans.
The undoubted highlight of their support was a magnificent display from our 3,000 Loyal Royals at Pride Park, who never stopped singing and created a truly magnificent atmosphere with fancy dress, large inflatables and continued positivity in the face of adversity.
Murty, the rest of the players, John Madejski and Steve Coppell all gave full thanks at the final whistle, and Graeme said, "The fans have been sensational all year, and I've got to pay my respects to them.
"They've been brillitant for us and Sunday was extra special. They were superb. All the way through the game they were dancing around the place.
"Then, at the end, it was very, very hard to go and acknowledge them after you've been relegated, but it was the very least we could do.
"It was nearly impossible to put a smile on your face after the way it went for us, but you have to salute their efforts."
A complete gallery of fan photos from Sunday's game is online now, and our online TV station Reading World will very soon have a complete video special from the match.
