Church faces England u21s

Posted on: Wed 14 May 2008

Young Reading forward Simon Church takes on England's under 21s this Thursday evening.

Our Welshman is part of Brian Flynn's team that does battle at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, kick off 7:30pm.

Wales' under 21s have been in sparkling form recently, and 19-year-old Church has scored some important goals as they sit on the verge of qualification for the UEFA Euro Under 21 championship finals in Sweden in 2009.

They need one win from a double header with Romania in August to be sure of qualification. They would be the first side to reach a major finals since 1958.

Thursday night's game is being shown live on Sky Sports.

Church has spent the vast majority of this season out on loan. He started the season with Crewe, and played 13(+1) games, scoring once.

He then joined Yeovil, and lined up on 2(+4) occasions for Russell Slade's men.

Our official bookmakers Bet365 make Wales a 7/2 shot, and England 8/13 favourites.
