Steve: I am so fortunate

Posted on: Mon 09 Jun 2008

Steve Coppell says he is extremely fortunate to have such a good working relationship with Chairman John Madejski.

In an age where more and more self-made millionaires are coming into the sport, Steve says he is incredibly lucky that our Chairman does not meddle in footballing matters and trusts the boss completely to get on with his job.

Steve told Reading World, "There are not many Chairmen who leave me to it the way that ours does. I'm very, very fortunate he has that kind of trust in me.

"There's an influx of wealthy, self-made men in the game, and most of them made their money by having the drive, the tenacity and the aggression.

"There won't be many of them who then acquire an asset and trust you to look after the football side.

"I'm really very fortunate with my Chairman and how he leaves me to get on with it.

"I will just be judged by results, if I don't get them I will be removed. All managers live by that, I'm comfortable with it."

Part one of an exclusive interview with Steve is online on Reading World now - see our free preview clip.

Part two will be online on Tuesday as Steve talks transfers and more.
