Royals hopeful on Little deal

Posted on: Fri 20 Jun 2008

Steve Coppell is hopeful that Glen Little will decide to sign a new contract and stay at Reading for next season.

The Royals winger missed the vast majority of the 2008/9 season due to a troublesome achilles injury. But Little has been offered a new deal to stay at Madejski Stadium, and the Reading manager insists the 32-year-old could play a big part in the Club's Championship challenge.

Coppell said, "Glen has unfinished business here as far as I am concerned.

"It was so cruel on him to be missing for more than a year, and it was significant for us as well. We needed his creativity.

"We have made him an offer, and like all players he's weighing it up with offers from elsewhere, I'm sure. We would dearly love him to be here.

"It's not a case of him having something to prove, but I think in his own mind he wants to show us something."
