Noel Hunt joins Reading

Posted on: Thu 24 Jul 2008

Reading Football Club have completed the signing of 25-year-old striker Noel Hunt for an undisclosed fee from Dundee United.

The Republic of Ireland B international and younger brother of Royals winger Stephen Hunt has signed a three-year contract and on Thursday morning he will fly out to Sweden to join his new teammates on their pre-season tour.

Noel scored 18 goals last season to help Dundee United to a fifth placed finish in the Scottish Premier League.

The Royals' Director of Football Nick Hammond told readingfc.co.uk, "I'd like to thank Chief Executive Stephen Thompson and Manager Craig Levein for their assistance in concluding this deal.

"Dundee United didn't want to lose Noel but understood his real desire to embark upon a new challenge with Reading Football Club.

"From my conversations with Noel, it is clear that he possesses the qualities of hunger and determination that Steve Coppell wants at this club as we attempt to regain a place in the Premier League."
