Lita scores four in friendly win
Trollhattan 1 (Scherdin 63)
Reading 4 (Lita 53, 55, 78, 90)
Four goals from Leroy Lita gave Reading a 4-1 victory over Swedish side Trollhattan this evening.
Lita scored one with his head, one with his left foot and one with his right to make it a very good evening for the striker.
It was a comfortable evening for Steve Coppell's men, although the game took until half time to spring into life.
Lita looked sharp, and it was a successful first outing for us in Sweden as Ibrahima Sonko got a full 90 minutes in his first pre-season game.
Marek Matejovsky was an unused sub, while Noel Hunt was present to watch the game but we await his international clearance.
Reading: Hahnemann; Rosenior, S Hunt, Ingimarsson, Sonko; Karacan, Harper, Kebe, Convey; Doyle (Long 59), Lita
Subs: Andersen, Shorey, Duberry, Pearce, Cisse, Matejovsky, Henry
First half
The game took until midway through the opening period to show signs of life, with home frontman Bilgin Aliosman shooting wide of the mark from 20 yards, then Bobby Convey firing off target at the other end.
The first shot on target came on 34 minutes, with Aliosman shooting straight at Marcus Hahnemann; a simple save.
Jimmy Kebe mishit a cross three minutes later and it almost dropped in, but the first half ended with little goalmouth action of note.
Second half
The game certainly livened up after the break, and eight minutes after the restart Kevin Doyle worked diligently down the left to fashion a cross that Leroy Lita nodded home from close range.
Lita quickly pounced on a defensive error two minutes later, running toward goal and smashing home from outside the box for an well-taken second.
Leroy almost had a four-minute hat-trick, but his stabbed shot was saved down low by Trollhattan's replacement goalkeeper Tobias Wennergren.
Just after the hour the hosts got themselves back into the game, sub Martin Scherdin showing good feet down the right, cutting inside and side-footing past Marcus Hahnemann at the near post.
Sub Shane Long looked certain to score on 66, but Wennergren produced a truly wonderful save from his header and keep it at 2-1.
With 12 minutes to go Lita had his hat-trick, picking up possession inside the box and cutting in on his left foot to strike home.
Two minutes later Lita had a good shout for a penalty but there was nothing doing.
Right on full time Lita had his fourth, smashing home after Jimmy Kebe broke well into the box.
The second half proved to be satisfying, and Lita in particular will have benefitted hugely from the workout.
