3mins - Leroy Lita gets a shot on target after a nice move and cross by Jimmy Kebe down the right wing.

5mins - Moustapha Salifou unleashes a good strike form 20 yards but Marcus Hahnemann watches it got over the bar. Both teams keen to get it on the deck on a nice surface.

6mins - Wayne Routledge should score from 18 yards after Maloney puts him in, but he drags a foot wide.

8mins - Leroy Lita looked destined to score after Kalifa Cisse heads on a corner toward him, but the striker can't get enough on it and it goes wide.

9mins - Bobby Convey wins a penalty after Martin Laursen fouls him.....but Brad Friedel saves Stephen Hunt's penalty by diving to his right, and the rebound comes to nothing.

13mins - Slight delay as Friedel is asked to move a huge inflatable ball from his goal, and throws it into the Villa fans.

15mins - Half chance for Isaiah Osbourne as he gets up toward a cross but heads it not too far wide. Incidentally, it's a calf strain that keeps Steve Sidwell out of today's game.

19mins - Nice run from Kebe allows Convey a shot inside the area, but he mishits it and it dribbles well wide.

21mins - Kebe has been lively and gets up for a header in the box, nodding a little too far over.

23mins - Late challenge from Osbourne leaves Cisse on the ground needing treatment. That would have been a yellow card at least in a competitive game.

29mins - Shaun Maloney's effort comfortably saved by Hahnemann as he tries a whipped shot from 25 yards or so.

32mins - Long range right footer from Convey is deflected wide for a corner.

34mins - Cisse succumbs to that injury picked up earlier, and Jem Karacan is on his place. Big chance for the youngster.

35mins - GOAL FOR READING - Karacan scores with his second touch. Lita lays back to James Harper, who shoots from 25 yards, and sees his effort deflected off Curtis Davies and onto the post. It falls to Karacan for a simple finish and he's absolutely overjoyed.

39mins- Half a chance for John Carew but he's given offside anyway.

40mins- Great play from Lita to turn Davies, and he forces Brad Friedel into a diving save at the near post. Good stuff from the striker, who has been very sharp.

44mins - Good play from Kevin Doyle down the right, and he hangs up a cross to Kebe at the back post. A tough chance and he smashes a left-footed volley well over.

Half time - Nigel Reo-Coker and Gabriel Agbonlahor on for the Villa at the break.

53mins - Good chance for Villa as Laursen forces a save from Hahnemann. The big American did well to keep it out.

57 mins - Convey wins a free kick on the left about 25 yards out. Harper deloivers an inswinger and Kebe is arriving beding everyone at the back post - he lunges to connect with the volley but it smashes into the side netting. Unlucky.

62 mins - Reading substitution: Sonko replaces Duberry at the back. Aston Villa also make changes as Zat Knight replaces Davies and Ashley Young is on for Osbourne.

63 mins - Lita comes close with a far post header that whistles past Friedel but into the side netting.

67 mins - Another good move sees Rosenior play in Karacan and the youngster chips a great first time cross into the box from the right. Convey runs onto it but doesn't connect cleanly with a first time volley and Villa can clear.

70 mins - Young runs at a bank of Reading defenders and works a yard of space on his right foot. He tries to arc an effort inside the far post from the edge of the area and doesn't miss by much. Instead it slides by the right upright.

71 mins - Reading substitution: Stephen Hunt is replaced by Julian Kelly, and goes to right back with Rosenior moving left.

73mins - Good ovation for Noel Hunt as he comes on for Leroy Lita. Shane Long's on for Doyle.

74mins - Nearly an incredible start for Noel Hunt. He battles his way through inside the area and it opens up for him. He curls one from 12 yards but it hits the outside of the post.

75mins - Delfouneso and Albrighton on for Villa. Delfouneso has a shot a moment later.

76mins - More changes as Pearce and Henry come on for Reading. Only goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen hasn't had a runout yet. Attentdance announced as 7,271.

79mins- GOAL for Villa. Albrighton has acres of space to get in a cross from Villa's right, and Agbonlahor gets in front of Noel Hunt to turn home. Nice finish.

84mins- It's been a good game and both sides will have enjoyed the runout.

86mins-Chance for Ashley Young after Albrighton's low cross but he sidefoots an effort wide on the volley; tight angle nine yards out.

89mins-Henry's good cross is headed back across goal by Pearce and Friedel must tip it over. Good play from our youngsters.

90mins-Harper looked destined to win it as he stabs goalwards from only three yards out following a corner. It looked sure to be going in, but Agbonlahor is on the line and just gets a toe on it as Shane Long comes in. One minute time to be played.

91mins-FULL TIME. Good game all round, Royals a little unlucky not to win.
