Steve Coppell has spoken on the future of left back Nicky Shorey after the England international was left out of Saturday's 1-1 friendly drawy with Aston Villa.
Steve said, "We've had a firm offer for Nicky in the past week and the chances are that he will be gone by the end of next week, probably 60-40.
"But we have no financial need to sell and the offer did not meet our valuation. 12 months ago he played two games for England against Brazil and Germany, so I don't feel disposed to let him go for nothing.
"I would dearly love Nicky to stay because I think he's a huge asset, but he made it clear this time last year that he would prefer to leave.
"If no-one comes in for him, he will still be here and could well be starting for us next weekend.
"So we can't spend a lot of money replacing him when he might not leave, but we do have potential targets. We'll have to see what happens."
