A selection of local charities received more than £80,000 from our Royal Families fundraising group at a special reception on Tuesday evening.

Daisy's Dream and the Berkshire Cancer Centre were the chief recipients, both being presented with cheques for £30,000.

The following charities also received cheques for £3,000:
Me2Club, Sebastian's Action Trust, Headway Thames Valley, Dyslexia Research Trust, Thrive, Berkshire Community Foundation, Positive Strides UK, Westwood Farm Infant and Junior School. £500 was also donated to Make My Mummy Better.

The Royal Families fundraising group was set up by the wives and girlfriends of Royals players two years ago, initially led by Karen Murty and Amanda Hahnemann.

Last season's chief organisers were Emily Shorey and Olga Gunnarsson, and the cheque presentations were made at a special evening which also launched Graeme Murty's testimonial year.
