Harper retaining captain's role

Posted on: Thu 14 Aug 2008

Midfield man James Harper will keep the captaincy in the absence of injured Club Captain Graeme Murty.

Harper has worn the band for the first two games of our season, and will continue to do so until Murty returns.

Ivar Ingimarsson has previously been captain when Murty is unavailable, but he has handed the honour to Harper.

Ivar said, "I am very happy with that and I am right behind Harps, 100%. I told the gaffer he would be a good choice and it would be good for the team.

"I will always play the same way for the team whether I am captain or not, and Harps is a bubbly guy so we need that."

Interestingly, Harper chooses to wear the captain's band on his leg rather than his arm, because he does not like the way it restricts the sleeve of his shirt.
