Defender in team of the week

Posted on: Tue 19 Aug 2008

Royals defender Ibrahima Sonko has been named in the official Coca-Cola Championship team of the week.

The 27-year-old scored both goals in our 2-0 win over Plymouth, and also defended extremely well to help us earn a very comfortable victory.

It was the first time he had ever scored twice in a Reading shirt, and his last goal was away to Manchester United in December 2006.

He did score two goals for previous club Brentford once, notching twice in a 5-0 home win over Blackpool in November 2002.

Perhaps harshly, neither Bobby Convey nor Jimmy Kebe make the final XI, which is chosen by the Press Association.
