Coppell thanks supporters

Posted on: Wed 20 Aug 2008

Royals boss Steve Coppell was grateful for the support shown by those at Madejski Stadium for our first home game of 2008/9 against Plymouth.

19,202 witnessed a comprehensive win for Coppell's team, and they went home delighted after seeing a one-sided affair against a well-beaten Argyle outfit.

Coppell commented, "I said beforehand that it will be interesting to see how many fair-weather fans we've got who were only here for the Premier League.

"We had 19,000 so that's a good start; they are real Reading fans and I hope there are a few more real Reading fans who are away on holiday at the moment and can help fill the place next time!

"I hope they help fill it because we do need an atmosphere and some excitement inside the stadium."

The last time Plymouth visited Madejski Stadium was in the first game of our 2005/6 campaign, and 16,836 were in attendance.
