Sonko is definitely ruled out

Posted on: Wed 24 Sep 2008

Former Reading man Ibrahima Sonko has definitely been ruled out of our Carling Cup game at Stoke this evening.

The centre back, who moved to the Potteries for £2million this summer, has an ankle problem and will not play.

He started in their 0-0 draw away to Liverpool at the weekend, but was forced off in the 33rd minute with an ankle problem.

There had initially been fears he had broken it, but thankfully scans only show bad bruising.

He is therefore definitely out of this evening's match, but is hopeful of facing Chelsea this coming Saturday.

Boss Tony Pulis will rotate his team, and ex-Reading striker Dave Kitson could be one of those first team players who misses out.

He has started every one of Stoke's league games so far, and was not involved in their previous Carling Cup game, a 3-2 win at Cheltenham.

Long throw specialist Rory Delap also sat out that game. Ricardo Fuller could come in tonight, but Michael Tonge and Tom Soares are cup-tied.
