Royals boss Steve Coppell has described Saturday's defeat at Preston as 'a kick in the groin.'

Coppell's men were in the ascendancy at the start of the second half, and looked all set for three points, only to concede two through defensive and goalkeeping errors.

Speaking to our online TV station Reading World, Steve said, "We'd have been disappointed if we'd only taken one point, so to come away with nothing - what a kick in the groin.

"We controlled the first half, and at 1-0 were in a good position. I felt reasonably comfortable, but the equaliser was a farce and a massive incentive, a motivation.

"It was so predictable, we knew Sedgwick would check onto his right foot and then we got into a real mess in the middle. The game got scrappy after that.

"They scored a second and we were left with a numb feeling. What a waste, what an opportunity gone by.

"We've come away frustrated with ourselves, the officials, with so many things about how the day has gone. We should have controlled things."
