Jem Karacan was pleased to overcome a tough challenge from Doncaster in Tuesday's narrow 2-1 victory.

The midfielder made his tenth league start in the game and said, "Expectations are high at home after our results earlier this season, but Doncaster came here and made life difficult.

"They played some good football and put us under pressure, so we're very happy to get the result."

The Royals squandered opportunities to put the game beyond the visitors in the second half, and Jem said, "It would have been nice to kill them off earlier.

"Similar to the game at Preston, we should have been further ahead before we let them equalise. But three points is all that matters and we've got them.

"It was a quality ball from Harps for the winner, and a great finish from Doyler."

Jem has kept his place in the starting line up despite Harper's return to fitness, and said, "I've just got to keep doing the best I can.

"There are quality players around me so there is good competition for places, but that's good for me because I can learn from players like Harps and Marek."
