Doyle: It's hard to improve

Posted on: Thu 23 Oct 2008

Kevin Doyle is enjoying the current congested run of games in the Coca-Cola Championship - but admits it gives little time to make any improvements in training.

The Royals have had four midweek League games already this season, and with Kevin also on international duty last week, he is very much in game mode at all times.

He said, "There are so many games now that it's hard to improve, to work on your technique or get on the weights.

"It's a case of playing, resting and recovering, and that's how it must be, especially if you're in the starting eleven.

"After Tuesday's game Noel might want to work on his left-footed finishes and me on my one-on-ones. But we won't get chance, you have to learn during games.

"I'm not complaining about the Championship, it's our fault we're in this league and it's up to us to get back into the Premiership by winning games."

Doyle's nine goals this season have all come at Madejski Stadium, and he commented, "All of our performances have been at home. I'd like a couple away because we'll need to win away games to stay up there in the table.

"We can't rely just on the home form. We've got QPR coming up, we'll have to play better than we did in midweek. If we can do that, we'll be favourites."

Tickets for this weekend's game are on general sale now - call 0844 249 1871 or use the online ticketing service.
