Liam Rosenior says Saturday's home draw with Queens Park Rangers was very much a case of two points dropped.
The Royals were the more adventurous side, but failed to break through an impressive Rangers backline.
The outcome may have been very different if we had been awarded a penalty from one of our two strong appeals - first for a foul on Jimmy Kebe then for Gavin Mahon's handball.
Liam said, "When you're in form like we have been then it's a disappointing result and two points dropped.
World TV: Steve's QPR reaction
Report: Reading 0-0 QPR
"We weren't at our best but created enough chances to score. QPR defended well, they tried to slow the game down but I still thought the goal would come for us.
"We've dropped points at home now but that was always going to happen. AC Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid won't win all their home games so you can't expect it!
"We put the effort and the workrate in but sometimes the first touch wasn't there.
"We had a penalty shout for handball and it was disappointing, you count on the ref to make those decisions. His hands were above his head, but they say it evens itself out and hopefully it happens for us. We had the one at Watford, maybe that's the karmic law working!
"But we had enough chances to win in open play still so you move on. The gaffer said afterwards we put the workrate in and could have won.
"There's an element of expectation at home now. I always say this but the fans don't realise how important they are. When fans are nervous and edgy it can affect body language and the first touch.
"If we're going to be champions of this league we need the fans behind us in every game, not just the good ones. We can't go 3-0 or 4-0 up in 20 minutes every time, QPR have got good players.
"Our fans have been fantastic, they're a credit and a reason we're up there at the moment."
