Antonio scores on his debut
Bristol City 1 (Gunnarsson og 60)
Reading 4 (Convey 25, Mooney 35 (pen), Antonio 51,
Henry 89)
Debutant Michail Antonio was among the scorers for our reserves in a 4-1 win at Bristol City on Tuesday evening.
It was an emphatic win for Brian McDermott's side - just three days after our first team won by the exact same scoreline at Ashton Gate.
Bobby Convey opened the scoring midway through the first half with a volley from 15 yards, slotting home from Marek Matejovsky's ball.
Irish frontman David Mooney doubled the advantage ten minutes later, slotting home a penalty after doing well to win the spot kick himself.
City's squad included the likes of Lee Trundle and £1million man Nicky Maynard, but it was our new right winger Antonio, signed from Tooting & Mitcham last week, who scored next with a looping header from James Henry's cross.
Brynjar Gunnarsson headed into his own net under some pressure to give City a lifeline from a corner, but Henry put the result out of sight with a good finish from 18 yards, Matejovsky once again the provider.
Reading: Andersen; J Kelly, Golbourne, Duberry, Gunnarsson; Henry, Matejovsky; Antonio (Frewen 75), Convey; Long (Bossman 87), Mooney
Subs: Pritchard, Taylor, Vasilev
Coach Nigel Gibbs told readingfc.co.uk, "It was a decent performance from us and a good result.
"We were very good in the first half and created a few chances, it was a tighter game in the second half but we came through well.
"Duberry played well and got his full 90 minutes, Marek too and he played well in midfield.
"Michail Antonio scored on his debut with a good header, he tired a little as you'd expect but he can be pleased.
"Shane Long got a little kick late on but it's nothing to worry about.
"Overall we did well on a lovely pitch at Ashton Gate - I don't think they want to play us any time soon though!"
