Reserves beat Gillingham 4-0
The Royals reserves recorded another comfortable victory with a 4-0 win over Gillingham at Didcot on Wednesday afternoon.
James Henry opened the scoring in the first minute with an excellent goal, controlling the ball on his chest before firing a left-footed volley into the net from just inside the penalty area.
Midway through the period the second goal came when Henry made a good run and delivered a cross onto the head of Shane Long, who made no mistake with his finish.
The third goal came just before the break when Michael Duberry nodded down a long ball into the path of Bobby Convey, who fired home with a crisp half-volley.
The scoring was completed in the early stages of the second half, when a loose ball broke to David Mooney and the Irishman netted with a right-footed effort.
Mooney later suffered an ankle injury from a heavy challenge and, with all three subs already having been made, the Royals had to finish with ten men.
The extent of Mooney's injury will be assessed on Thursday, along with sub Michail Antonio who also picked up a knock in the latter stages.
Marek Matejovsky came safely through an hour, while Duberry got another 90 minutes under his belt.
