Madejski is our longest-serving

Posted on: Fri 14 Nov 2008

John Madejski recently became the longest-serving Chairman in the history of Reading Football Club.

Previous record holder Bill Lee was at the helm from 1936 until 1954, and took the role for 6,524 days.

Madejski surpassed that mark on the 10th October, making him the longest-serving Chairman in our 137-history.

When taking over on 29th November 1990, Madejski assumed control of a club at Elm Park in the old Division Two - now known as League One.

We have been promoted three times under his supervision and relegated twice, while building the magnificent 24,000-capacity Madejski Stadium in summer 1998.
