Downes on 'best win of the year'
Wally that was another good victory today, another good away victory?
Yes it was terrific, we played extremely well in the first half and then in the second half we stood firm. We still managed to play some good football in the second half. It was the most pleasing victory of the year.
More so than the victory against Wolves?
Yes because it was a very big game. The Wolves game was very early on in the season and this one, if Sheffield had beaten us they would have jumped above us. With the expectancy of the home side this was a very big win.
It's now eleven games without defeat against United.
Yes but you know every game is different. There's no trends in that I don't think, it's like the spin of a coin. It could have gone either way today, it was probably not the most comfortable but the scoreline was good for us.
You had quite a quiet afternoon with no Neil Warnock here this time around?
Haha! Well you know there are always tackles flying about when you play at Sheffield, you expect them to play a certain way. If they're losing they get behind the team and demand that there is passion and that's always the way, so you know if you haven't got that then you're going to be in trouble here.
The crowd were maybe quieter today, did this help?
Well they were trailing in the game but if they had got one then the place takes off. The good thing is keeping a clean sheet here, even if you're 3-0 up here and they score with two minutes to go they still fancy that they can get a couple. So the clean sheet was critical.
