Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann has revealed that the Royals were woken up by a fire alarm in the team hotel before the Sheffield United game - but it made no difference at all as we put in a cracking performance!

We fully deserved our 2-0 victory at Bramall Lane, and performed very well despite an unexpected wake-up in the middle of the night just a few hours before kick-off!

Marcus said, "It was super-loud and I woke up in a daze thinking 'wait a second that's the fire alarm!' I went outside but then I knew it wasn't real because there was no smoke!

"After that I used up all my Red Bull before the game and then [kit man] Ronny Grant had to keep bringing me more!

"But then we played great, and really well in the first half. In the second half we defended well, they brought Greg Halford on and I think his throw is longer than Rory Delap.

"Everyone played well - look at Doyle, he scored and I remember his great defensive header too. That typifies the feeling I remember we had a few years back.

"In that promotion year we might have got 106 points but people screwed up all the time - the key thing was that the guy next to him always picked up the pieces.

"It's been going well for everyone recently and we need to keep it going because we've got that feeling now, that confidence when you are winning games.

"When you get things going for you it just keeps rolling. Everything changes, the confidence is unbelievable and you know you're going to win games. You ended up shouting at the ref less as well!

"The more games this defence plays the better we get as a unit. We're not giving up chances and we've got a good mix of guys with different styles, it's working really well.

"We've got Bikey, and we know he goes a little crazy sometimes but we love it! Everyone has their own thing, look at Liam, he just loves getting forward.

"If we're 2-0 up and I want us to sit back and keep a clean sheet I'm not going to go over there and punch him when he gets forward because it's important for him and his game so it's OK!

"Bikey is awesome and he's improved a lot. If he can keep it going there can't be many better than him."
