Chris rues 'bad day at the office'

Posted on: Mon 24 Nov 2008

Royals defender Chris Armstrong admits the Royals got what they deserved from Saturday's game against Southampton - a first home defeat of the season.

We were well below our fluent best, and Steve Coppell's brutally honest assessment was that were so many poor performances all over the pitch from our players.

Armstrong admitted afterwards, "It was disappointing and Southampton probably got what they deserved. We just weren't at it and they deserved to win so full credit goes to them. We cjust ouldn't get near them.

"We never got going. The effort was there and we tried, but it didn't quite happen. The chances didn't come.

"It was a bad day at the office, but there are plenty of games to go. We have to draw a line under this, move on and try to get three points at Cardiff now on Tuesday night."

Our game at Ninian Park will be a stern test, and Chris is hopeful of a positive reaction from the squad.

"We'll be ready for it. It's an important game because we need three points.

"The good thing is the next game comes quickly so we can get over this and move on from here."
