Steve Coppell admits he has a very strong squad to choose from as we enter the crucial Christmas period.

The manager has plenty of options available to him, and as an example Euro 2008 star Marek Matejovsky is having to be very patient while Kalifa Cisse and James Harper have control of the central midfield berths.

Our bench against Coventry on Monday contained three full internationals, an Olympian and an English youth winger, so there are ample bodies among our squad.

Steve said, "We've got good depth, and maybe even too much depth! In any squad of players you're probably always looking at five or six injuries, but I like to think that the way we train and the way we like to do things means that it's not often we get that many injuries.

"[Coughs] The manager's falling apart with his chest, but apart from that we're alright!"

The Royals had Drogheda midfielder Shane Robinson training with them last week, and Steve does not expect any further developments on that front - because of our squad's depth and the options he already has.

"He came over and he knows Hunty. We do that quite regularly, invite people over. It just makes a change sometimes, and its an opportunity for him.

"But we have a really healthy squad so it was always going to be a long shot. If he'd come in and played like Maradona for three days we might have considered something."
