Marcus praised; Doyle edged out

Posted on: Tue 09 Dec 2008

Marcus Hahnemann was named in the latest official Championship team of the week, but Kevin Doyle was edged out in the divisional player of the month award.

Hahnemann put in another good performance at Barnsley on Saturday, and our 36-year-old American has been in very consistent form over the past few weeks.

Doyle had been nominated for the official Powerade player of the month award, but the panel lead by Sky's Chris Kamara chose Wolves' Chris Iwelumo.

Doyle, the division's leading scorer, notched six goals in five games during the month, and while Iwelumo scored the same number of goals - but played a game more.
