The Club must wait another couple of days or so before a full diagnosis can be made on Marcus Hahnemann's injury, and we will not be able to cancel Mikkel Andersen's short loan spell at League Two Brentford.
Hahnemann went down in the 70th minute of our 1-0 win over Blackpool with a calf injury, and he will be looked at further once the injury is a little more comfortable.
Steve Coppell's initial diagnosis after the game was that the American goalkeeper could be out for 'a few weeks' and Adam Federici will step in between the sticks when we face Norwich City this coming Saturday.
19-year-old Danish youth international Andersen would normally then step up to our bench, but he joined Brentford on a week-long loan just a few hours before our Blackpool game on Tuesday - ironically acting as cover for another of our goalkeepers Ben Hamer, who is suspended.
Clubs are not automically allowed to recall loaned-out players within the first month of any loan deal, even with the other club's permission, so Andersen will remain at Griffin Park to face Bradford this weekend.
In a further twist, Andersen would have completed his loan with Andy Scott's side had their game at Accrington not been postponed this past Saturday and the deal thereby put on hold for another few days.
As a result, Coppell will either call upon Academy graduate stopper Alex McCarthy for the sub's role, or could consider bringing Ross Kitteridge back from a work experience spell at Basingstoke Town.
Alternatively he could decide to go with no substitute keeper for this weekend only and then use Andersen if required after that once the Dane is back from his brief loan move.
As an aside, our leading scorer Kevin Doyle has said in the past he would go between the sticks in an emergency - and once asked our kit man to print up a goalkeeper shirt with number 9 on the back just in case he was called upon!
