Striker Simon Church was delighted to make his debut for the Club in our FA Cup match at Cardiff this weekend.

The frontman, 20 last month, came on as a 74th minute substitute at Ninian Park, a ground he knows well after scoring there previously for Wales' under 21s.

He said, "It was nice to make to make my debut, I got a chance to play, but at the same time I thought it was a very disappointing result for the team.

"I enjoyed coming here, I've scored here before so that made it a bit more special and it's always a great atmosphere, the crowd are certainly vocal.

"We were all very down after the result because I thought we put in a good performance. We're very disappointed to have gone out and I'm not sure we deserved to lose.

"It was always going to be difficult but there was quality in our team, some good young lads. It was a case of looking to the future and hopefully we can take our chance again.

"Making my debut opens a door for me but I've got Kevin Doyle, Noel Hunt, Shane Long and Leroy Lita here, all proven quality goalscorers!

"I will keep plugging for a break and my main focus is to work hard and hope for a break. If that can't happen then maybe I can out on loan again to learn my trade."

Church spent the first half of this season on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, and has also played for both Yeovil Town and Crewe Alexandra on loan.

He has been an unused sub for the Royals in the Carling Cup before, away to Swansea last season and away to Dagenham & Redbridge earlier in this campaign.
