Coppell's thanks to groundsman

Posted on: Tue 13 Jan 2009

Boss Steve Coppell has thanked groundsman Bruce Elliott for his hard work over the past few weeks.

Bruce and his team have had to work against the cold snap, and Steve has been very grateful for all the effort they have put in.

Steve said, "Bruce has been working his socks off to give us the best possible surface.

"Given the weather and the circumstances that came with it, he's been doing a sterling job.

"The pitch is fine, we can have no complaints. It's spongy and puddingy but as long as it's flat and reasonable that's OK.

"We trained on it on Thursday before the game, we didn't really want to do that but we'd been on astroturf all week and needed some grass beneath our studs."
