Coach Nigel Gibbs told readingfc.co.uk, "We can be really pleased with the performance, especially in the first half, when I really thought we were terrific.
"We played very, very well in that first half and it could have been more than 3-0 at half time.
"The first goal started with great distribution from Mikkel and then Church won the header for Hal to run on to and slot in.
"For the second one James Henry whipped in a ball from the left and Pearcey put in the rebound after winning the header himself. Then Hal got in behind again and slotted in nicely for 3-0 and it was still early.
"The second half was more of a battle and we had to work hard for the clean sheet. Brighton had been stung in the first half and came at us a bit more.
"We finished strongly though and got another when Bignall headed home from a corner.
"The performance was really pleasing, there was good energy, we created chances and put in fantastic application right throughout the game."
