Adam Federici took great pride in the 1-0 home win over Wolves on Tuesday evening, and admits it is a massive psychological boost in the Royals' promotion bid.
In addition, the 23-year-old Australian took a little more personal satisfaction than normal because Wanderers once rejected the chance to sign him.
He said, "It was a great win and a great three points. On a psychological level it's a massive boost for all of us.
"When knew if we'd lost it would have been a real dampener, but the confidence is flying now.
"Wolves had the chance to sign me before I ever came to Reading, I was there on non-contract for a while.
"They they got promoted and said I didn't have enough experience so maybe I had a little point to prove.
"I really think this result shows the strength we've got in reserve within the squad here.
"Look at the changes at the back, but Jules came in and did fantasically, so too Pearcey as well.
"They did exceptionally and to get a clean sheet was fantastic. They easily slipped into the team which I've had to do too and full credit to them."
