Fae leaves; Bennett extends loan

Posted on: Thu 29 Jan 2009

Reading FC has confirmed that midfielder Emerse Fae has completed his move to Nice for an undisclosed fee.

The Cote D'Ivoire international joined the Royals from Nantes in the summer of 2007 but struggled to command a first team place, starting just six games.

He returned to France at the start of this season with a loan spell at Nice, including an option for the Ligue 1 side to conclude a permanent deal which has now been finalised.

Director of Football Nick Hammond told readingfc.co.uk, "Sometimes you buy players and for one reason or another it doesn't work out.

"But Emerse Fae is a good player and he's gone to a good club; the deal suits both parties and we wish him all the best."

Also, Alan Bennett has agreed to extend his loan spell at Brentford until the end of the season.

The defender, 27, has been at Griffin Park since the summer, playing 27 games for Andy Scott's side.

The Irish international also enjoyed a loan spell with the Bees in the second half of last season, playing another 11 games and scoring one goal.

He is yet to make his debut in a Reading shirt, and played 11 games on loan for Southampton last season.
