Henry scores Lions wondergoal

Posted on: Wed 18 Feb 2009

Royals winger James Henry scored an absolutely stunning 25-yard equaliser for Millwall on Tuesday evening.

The youngster is on loan at the New Den for a month, and lashed home a simply brilliant effort right into the top corner with only seconds of the game remaining.

It was a brilliant goal, arguably the best scored by a Reading player this season, and earned his new team an important 1-1 home draw with Swindon.

Boss Kenny Jackett told millwallfc.co.uk, "It was fantastic and you'll do very well to see a better goal than that this season. It was a tremendous effort when the pressure was on. Congratulations to James."

Reading World subscribers can watch James' great goal in full from Thursday morning onwards.

Hal Robson-Kanu got 70 minutes for the visitors, fresh from his key role in their weekend draw at leaders Leicester, helping create ex-Reading man Simon Cox's goal.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Alex McCarthy and Scott Davies both played for Aldershot in a cracking 4-4 draw at Gillingham, with referee Stuart Attwell caught up in controversy by awarding a late penalty to the Gills.

Nicholas Bignall was not part of Cheltenham's squad for their 1-0 loss at Stockport after an eye injury. Daniel Spence was on the bench for Salisbury at home to Woking.

Earlier on Tuesday, Simon Church signed a month-long loan deal with League One side Leyton Orient.

The striker, 20, made his Reading debut in the FA Cup earlier this season, and will hope to further his development with a spell at the Matchroom Stadium.

Michail Antonio was recalled from Tooting, while Academy striker Andrew White joined Croydon on work experience.
