Reserves put five past Palace

Posted on: Wed 18 Feb 2009

Marcus Hahnemann played the full 90 minutes and Noel Hunt netted twice as the Royals reserves beat Crystal Palace 5-0 at Bromley FC on Wednesday evening.

Hahnemann made an excellent early save before the Royals began to take command, but the game was goalless at half-time.

The floodgates opened early in the second half; a corner was punched out as far as Marek Matejovsky, who controlled on his chest before volleying home an excellent effort.

The second soon followed when Noel Hunt's strong run was ended by a foul inside the area, and the Irish international stepped up to slot home the spot kick.

Michail Antonio continued the goalscoring form he displayed on loan at Tooting with the third, running onto a loose ball to fire home.

Antonio then had a hand in the fourth, crossing for Hunt to net his second of the evening with a deft glancing header.

The scoring was completed in the final moments when Matejovsky's cross fell to Jay Tabb who produced a crisp low finish.

Hahnemann looked comfortable on his return to action and Dan Harding made his club debut in a highly satisfactory evening's work.
