Glen Little admits it was great to be back out playing in a hooped shirt after making his third debut for a Reading.
The winger signed on loan from Portsmouth at the weekend, and was thrown in at the deep end, starting the draw with Charlton in place of the injured Jimmy Kebe.
He put in a promising display on the right, and linked up well with Liam Rosenior on a number of occasions.
He said afterwards, "It was nice to be out there again but obviously the result didn't go how we wanted.
"Some of our stuff was good, some of it was frustrating, it's nice to be out there but a shame not to win the game.
"I didn't feel I did too badly, it's just a case of having confidence in your own fitness. I got a little bit frustrated at times, I couldn't get going the way I know I can.
"I thought maybe I'd have a few days training and getting ready, get used to the game from the bench but Jimmy got a niggle in his knee and I was thrown straight in.
"It was the first time I'd been on the pitch since Boxing Day, I was a bit nervous but felt we did some good things at times. Rosey did well for me and we had some good play.
"I really felt fine, when I saw the board go up for a substitution on the hour I thought it would be me coming off but it was Hunty so that was a bit of a surprise!
"I'd not really played with Cisse and Marek too much before but football is the same language for anyone, you just pass it to feet, move and get forward."
Glen was given a warm reception by Reading fans and said, "I've had a great relationship with the fans based on what we've acheived here. People said there's a lot of expectation on me but I put that on myself anyway.
"If you set high standards you want to reach them and you know how you can play, but that's harder if you've been out."
He continued, "We got to 2-1, we'd not played great but I thought it would be enough. We looked comfortable and I couldn't see them scoring but all credit to them.
"You can see from other results that it's tough to win games. Everyone wants to do their best against you. They've come here and had a go but we're disappointed not to beat the bottom team. Sometimes you can try too hard."
