Glen Little was left frustrated after our 0-0 draw at Coventry.
It was the Royals' second successive stalemate, and neither side created any clear chances in a sluggish game.
Glen said, "It was another frustrating one, we have seen two games now away from home [Palace and Coventry] and they've been pretty dire! But I think there's plenty of endeavour and commitment and that will help us.
"We have hardly had a chance in either game, you can't explain it, it's not from a lack of trying. There are plenty of honest people out there trying their best but it's just strange!
"It seems to be back and forward, back and forward, free kick, out of play, plenty of throw-ins and just very scrappy.
"We had to dig in and as long as you're hard to beat and keep a clean sheet you have got a chance of winning games. Unfortunately we haven't been able to get the goals and we'll have to keep battling on again now.
"We have a massive game now against Sheff Utd and we will see if this was a good point at the end of the season.
"It's getting tight and I think if you look at maybe one more win you're guaranteed in the play-offs that. You want to get that win as soon as possible, get that out of the way and then you hope you can have a real charge at it.
"Once you're in the play-offs, whether you finish third or sixth it doesn't matter. I think it will be tight and I don't think anyone will really be favourite."
