Kalifa Cisse could be back in action as soon as Monday after undergoing hospital scans on a neck injury he suffered in the 1-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United.
The Malian went to ground after an aerial challenge with Darius Henderson, and needed some six minutes of medical treatment while down on the pitch, before being moved onto a buggy and then to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in an ambulance with his neck braced.
Reading boss Steve Coppell told Reading World straight after the game, "I don't know all of the details for certain at this stage, and it very much looked dramatic with everything around his neck - but better safe than sorry.
"Jon Fearn is a top physio and he, along with all of the medical staff here, make sure we look after our own.
"Cisse has been to hospital and I believe the x-ray came up all clear so I hope he will be OK. Whether that's in time for Monday's game we will have to wait and see."
James Harper missed the game with a groin injury picked up in training on Thursday and he will be monitored before the Blackpool game this Bank Holiday Monday.
The complete interview with Steve is live on World now. Full extended video highlights from the United match will then be launched on Saturday evening.
