Royals goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann made his 300th appearance in a Reading shirt at Norwich on Monday evening.

Marcus and Brad Friedel are believed to be the only Americans to have played 300 games for a single English club.

Our 'keeper first played for Reading in a 1-1 draw with Wigan in December 2001, and he has been a cornerstone of the most successful period in the Club's history.

The 36-year-old has kept 113 clean sheets during his time in Berkshire - although he would probably claim another clean sheet for his only sub appearance, a seven-minute runout at Arsenal in the Carling Cup!

He said, "I have had a fantastic time over here, everyone knows I love it here.

"For an American to make 300 appearances with one team, I don't think there are many over here who can say that. It's pretty good going I think!"

Marcus' most recent clean sheet came at Carrow Road in our 2-0 victory, and he said, "I felt like I had a good game without being too busy. We controlled it and we are keeping clean sheets the whole time right now.

"We are doing well and we knew that if we keep putting the pressure on we would get the goals.

"It's funny how these things work out, it seems to always come down to the end of the season, so it will be very interesting now when we play on Sunday.

"We have to win our game and then we will see what happens. That's what we did on Monday and now it's up to us to keep that going.

"Even in the worst case scenario we are building strength and confidence for the play-offs. If it means going into them then we will do so and see what happens."
