The Royals reserves completed their Totesport.com Combination League season in style on Thursday as a young side crushed Gillingham 4-0 at Priestfield.
Striker Andrew White opened the scoring in the first minute; his second goal in two games, then Abdulai Baggie smashed home a free kick to make it 2-0, taking his tally to an impressive seven goals in his last nine outings.
Baggie and White then teamed up to create the third for debutant Oliver Kelly, and sub Jacob Walcott rounded off matters, also scoring his first at reserve team level.
Brian McDermott's team ended the season with only two defeats, and they also made it through to the Totesport.com cup final, to be played over the summer.
This was an impressive display, with only skipper Julian Kelly having any first team experience. Schoolboy Angus MacDonald played the full game at centre back, while scholar James Rowe, usually a midfielder, put in a good display out of position at right back.
Reading: Andersen; Rowe, J Kelly (c), Kamdjo, MacDonald; O Kelly (Joyce 82), Taylor (Stockinger 82), Downes (Walcott 74), Bozanic; Baggie, White
Subs: McCarthy, Cox
