Hammond pledges support for new boss

Posted on: Fri 29 May 2009

Nick Hammond says our next manager will be given the same successful structure behind the scenes.

When Steve Coppell left, he paid homage to the support he was given by Chairman John Madejski, as well as Nick's vital contribution as Director Of Football.

Hammond said, "It's a good football club and the structure is such that when we appoint a manager he has 100% support and the ability to manage in the way he wants. Nothing will change in that respect."

Nick said recently that the Club hope to appoint a new man within a couple of weeks, and he said it is important to get the timing right.

"We will do it properly, as we did with Steve. It took some time to get Steve, my initial conversations with Dick Knight were that we had to wait because they had three important games in a week as I recall.

"That took longer but we waited and did it right, which we will continue to do as a club."
