'Names in mind but no rush'

Posted on: Tue 19 May 2009

Director Of Football Nick Hammond says the Royals had names in mind as soon as Steve Coppell left his post as manager - but the Club will go through the selection process in full before making any decisions.

Coppell departed Madejski Stadium a week ago, and the Club have been inundated with applications for the post.

When asked if he had names in mind from the outset, he said, "Of course - but it's very important you go through the process and have the ability to talk to many people, as we did last time when we appointed Steve.

"I've been here a long time and understand the culture of our club and have always worked closely with the board so I know how we operate.

"Because of that, in my mind there are people who would sit towards the top of the list. But until you look someone in the eye you don't know, so my view is to speak to a number of people before taking it to the board for a decision."
