Director of Football Nick Hammond has revealed that the Royals are hopeful of appointing the Club's new manager 'in the next couple of weeks.'

Nick told readingfc.co.uk, "The interview process is now well underway and that will continue for the next few days.

"Then I'll meet with the board to narrow down the interviewees into a final shortlist. We'll then speak to those candidates again, and hopefully make an appointment in the next couple of weeks.

"The calibre of the applicants has been very high and developing a shortlist for interview has been a difficult task.

"There has been a lot of interest in the job because we're seen as a stable and well-run club with good prospects for the future, and the standard of applicants has been very encouraging."
