Details from Ireland friendly

Posted on: Mon 01 Jun 2009

Shane Long and Stephen Hunt both came off the bench in Ireland's 1-1 friendly draw with Nigeria on Friday.

Long replaced captain Robbie Keane at half time and came close to scoring when trying to lob Austin Ejide but the 'keeper was able to scramble back and tip over the bar.

Hunt came off the bench on 81 minutes and replaced Stoke debutant Liam Lawrence for the final stages of this game at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground.

Michael Eneramo gave Nigeria the lead on 30 minutes, but Keane levelled just eight minutes later with a neat finish from Keith Andrews' pass - his 39th goal for his country.

Sam Sodje, who is leaving Reading this summer, played the full 90 for the Super Eagles in front of a crowd of 11,263.

Kevin Doyle and Noel Hunt both missed the game because of calf and foot injuries respectively.
