Simon Church is set to start for Wales in a World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan on Saturday.

The 20-year-old only made his debut as a sub in last weekend's friendly win over Estonia, and now he is preparing to make the step up.

Boss John Toshack said, "Simon is now in the frame. He has impressed recently and has worked hard with Brian Flynn in the under 21 setup.

"He has joined a couple of other lads - Evans and Sam Vokes - as becoming an emerging front line for us.

"These three have come through over the last 18 months. And Simon got goals for the u21s against England and forced his way into Reading's side that contested the play-offs.

"He has done well and is certainly in our thoughts now for his full debut having won his first cap on Friday as a late substitute against Estonia."
