'Keeper is edged out

Royals goalkeeper Adam Federici was edged out in an Australian awards ceremony last week.

Adam had been nominated for the APFA Harry Kewell Medal, awarded to the U23 PFA Footballer of the Year.

Federici, 24, lost out to Nikita Rukavytsya, a striker who impressed for Perth Glory last year, and earned a January move to Steve McClaren's FC Twente in the Dutch top flight.

The full list of nominees were: Billy Celeski, Bruce Djite, Tarek Elrich, Adam Federici, Scott Jamieson, Mitch Nichols, Nikita Rukavytsya, Matt Simon, Matthew Spiranovic, James Troisi and Michael Zullo.

Everton's Tim Cahill won the senior award.
