Manager Brendan Rodgers will consider the appointment of Reading's next club captain very seriously.

With Graeme Murty having left, Brendan will use pre-season to choose a new man to wear the armband.

He told Reading 107, "Graeme was a terrific captain, I was with him during my previous time here and he was a great professional, a great servant.

"He has moved on so that leaves the captaincy up for grabs.

"At the moment I have not clearly identified who I would like to fill it, but whoever is named captain will be very proud.

"I take the captaincy very seriously. There are many attributes needed and a number of players will want it.

"I will look at it and decide over pre-season."
