'Brendan leaves no stone unturned'

Posted on: Mon 29 Jun 2009

Brendan Rodgers is meticulous in his preparation and research, according to our Chief Scout Brian McDermott.

Brendan and Brian worked together when they were both Academy coaches at Madejski Stadium some years ago, and McDermott told readingfc.co.uk of his qualities.

Brian said, "He is very organised and he will leave no stone unturned as far as the opposition are concerned.

"He will be good with the players, they will get on with him. He has brought in lots of experience with Dean Austin and Frank Lampard, there are a lot of good people here.

"On top of that he has massive good will at the club. He has close links with the place and he is a fan. He will be very popular with supporters.

"I worked with him for two or three years and we got on well. This will be a good appointment, for sure.

"From the conversations he's already with the staff it is all very, very positive. It's shaping up to be a season to look forward to."

The players return to training at the start of next week.
