New manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to formulate the best possible midfield formation - with the aim of helping creative players like Marek Matejovsky and James Harper to play at the very top of their games.

When asked about his midfield options, Brendan told our official radio station Reading 107, "There's some very good players here. Once I have a close look at the squad it's something we can look at. It might just be that an adaptation to the system is something we can do.

"Matejovsky is a wonderful talent. I remember talking to Petr Cech about him and we know that if you get him in the right position he's a big player.

"You only need to look at the goal he scored at Liverpool to see the quality he has. The times I've seen him play he's a player that can make the difference.

"There's also James Harper. James is a very, very good player, he is comfortable with the ball at his feet and it's trying to maximise all the talents we have, along with the exciting young players coming through like Jem Karacan.

"And if I feel like I have to get some players, maybe one or two in the squad, then that will help renew the motivation of the others as well."
