New boss Brendan Rodgers says Kevin Doyle's move to Wolves was a natural part of the Club's evolution - and he is already looking to find a replacement.

Doyle has moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Brendan wished him all the best, but quickly focused on our own future and the new era under his stewardship.

Rodgers told readingfc.co.uk, "He's a terrific player and he served the Club so well. I would have liked to work with him but he's a Premier League player and we know that.

"He will go down as one of the best signings in the Club's history, if not the very best - but I also like that he has the outlook of a top, top player.

"But I always repeat, no player or manager is bigger than the club. Him going is part of our evolution.

"And now we're looking at a number of new players. Losing 18 goals in Kevin means that needs to be replaced.

"We've got good strikers here but when one goes out you need to bring in one as good, if not better.

"That's not easy in the Championship but I will look to bring someone in with the same effectiveness in terms of goals and assists so we can be as competitive next year.

"On top of that, there are three or four other things we are looking at as well."
