Brendan your thoughts on the game? We're obviously disappointed with the result. A lot of teams coming here will find it hard but we felt positive beforehand and for a lot of the game we did very well. But the first goal gave them momentum and we're disappointed with the goals we conceded.
We'll draw the positives, we are building a new group, we will get better every day but this wasn't our day. Newcastle were better, they scored when it mattered, one of the goals coming when we were dominating the game. We're disappointed with the cross and that Ameobi has got between our defenders.
We came out second half, they scored again and the third was a killer. But I can't ask any more, the players gave everything but we conceded at the wrong times. We'll learn from it and move on.
Will it take a few weeks for this group to bed in?
It will probably be longer, we'll be building over the next two or three seasons. These guys have great potential and today was a wonderful environment to learn in, they won't come across a more passionate group of supporters. The building will be continual in every day. We've shown great signs; in the Forest game we were excellent and just needed a killer instinct. Burton we did well and today was always going to be difficult. I'm disappointed with the result but in many aspects the young guys were very good.
Did you get the rub of the green with the referee, maybe Alan Smith could have been sent off?
I don't like to see players sent off. It was two tackles and maybe...but forget the referee, we will reflect on our own performance and evaluate that. As a group we talked about how we could have been better for all three goals. The penalty was unfortunate, it hit Shane's hand and the linesman was right on the spot.
But those incidents can be key, that's a philosophical view you've taken.
They can be defining moments, yes, but we will look to our own football. The first goal the guy has got the cross in and it was a bit too easy. For the second we went to sleep and then the penalty. I thought the referee was alright.
You had a great spell before they scored, but didn't force the 'keeper to make a save.
That was the part of the game we need to improve on, I've said that all along. We got into good areas, we just needed the quality in the final third. We had a good spell, we controlled the game but didn't score.
